Berks County Girls U17
Berks 12 : Bucks 20
On Sunday 12th Nov the girls played Buckinghamshire.
From and earlier
“friendly” game that was drawn, this was
always going to be a close
match, and so it was. Playing at Slough, Berkshire were
soon a try down
due to an excellent weaving run by the Bucks centre
who left Berks
tacklers in her wake. Last time the teams played the
Berks forwards
were loosing out to the Bucks but this time it was more
even with some
good scrums from Berks winning against the head and
quick ball from the
scrum. Berks were also dominant in the line outs. A
well angled run
from Archer from the base of the Berks scrum put Berks
over for their
first try (unconverted). At half time it was 5 all.
Bucks came out in
the second half and quickly got a second then put pressure
on with a
third to which Berks responded with a second after fine
interplay
between Millar, Archer and Edwards who went over between
the posts and
then converted. So at 15-12 with 5 mins to play the
game seemed far from
over until the Bucks centre went over for their fourth
try to clinch the
match.
A good game played in good spirit with enthusiastic
supporters on both
sides.

Berks County Girls U14 result
Berks 0 : Bucks 39
The Berkshire U14 came up against the Bucks team at
Slough. The Berks
team is relatively young with several 12 and 13 year
old players and
they are still settling in as a team. In the first half
the bigger, more
experienced Bucks side had the upper hand running in
5 tries from missed
tackles or using the space out wide. In the second half,
Berks put up a
spirited defence, tackling well. They were recycling
the ball well and
were unlucky not to score on several occasions, Bucks
denying them with
some good cover tackling. The Berks tackling was to
be commended and
although beaten by a better side, the score does not
do justice to the
effort and playing of Berks who had clearly learnt a
lot during the
first half and looked a different side after half time.
The team will
take what they’ve learnt forward to the game vs
Oxon on Dec 3rd. Many
thanks to all the supporters who cheered the girls on
during the game.
Berks Squad: Belcher, Biggs, Darvell,
Denman, Edgar, Guille, Holt,
James, Jones, Kerins, Marks, Moore, Morse, Parsons,
Penberthy, Smith,

Bucks: Beckerleg, Cattell, Chesterman,
Dormer, Gould, Hillson, Hopkins,
Parry, Partridge, Smyth, Wood, Woodfall |
